For dry lips by day, the Minimalist SPF 30 Lip Balm cost ₹284 and lists petrolatum, ceramide and shea butter with no fragrance. For badly cracked lips, the Vaseline Lip Tins Cocoa Butter is white petroleum jelly at about ₹14.5 a gram, the lowest here. The NIVEA Original Care stick cost the least, ₹140, but lists flavour and fragrance ingredients.

How to choose
Day balm or night balm?
By day, your lips need SPF. The AAD says to put on a non irritating lip balm with SPF 30 or higher before going outdoors, even in winter, and to reapply it every 2 hours while you're outside. Here, that means the Minimalist, the WishCare or the Sebamed.

Which ingredients help chapped lips?
The AAD's helpful list is castor seed oil, ceramides, dimethicone, hemp seed oil, mineral oil, petrolatum, shea butter, white petroleum jelly, and the sunscreens zinc oxide and titanium oxide. It also suggests products that are fragrance free and hypoallergenic.
Every balm here names at least one item from that list. The Minimalist names three.
What to avoid while your lips are chapped
The AAD lists camphor, eucalyptus, flavouring such as cinnamon, citrus and mint, fragrance, lanolin, menthol, octinoxate or oxybenzone, phenol, propyl gallate and salicylic acid.
Burning, stinging or tingling doesn't mean a balm is working. The AAD says it means the product irritates your lips, so stop applying it. In this group, the NIVEA lists aroma and fragrance ingredients, the Sebamed lists parfum and the Laneige names a berry flavour.
Habits that matter as much as the balm
Stop licking, biting and picking at your lips, and keep metal items such as paperclips away from them. A humidifier in your bedroom helps if you breathe through your mouth at night. Drink enough water.

Of these seven, the Minimalist balm matches the dermatologists' list most closely. Its Amazon.in listing names petrolatum, ceramide and shea butter, three of the ingredients the AAD says can help chapped lips heal. It's marked fragrance free and unscented, and it carries SPF 30, the minimum the AAD suggests for going outdoors.
You get 8 g for ₹284, about ₹35.5 a gram. It had a 4.2 rating from 3,420 buyers and ranked #23 in Lip Balms. The UV filters it names are Tinosorb S, Uvinul A Plus and Uvinul T 150. The listing also reports an SPF of 41 from an independent lab.

For lips that are very dry and cracked, the AAD suggests a thick ointment such as white petroleum jelly, because ointment seals in water longer than waxes or oils. That's what this tin is. Its ingredient field names white petroleum jelly and vitamin E, with cocoa butter extract in the bullets.
It cost ₹247 for 17 g, about ₹14.5 a gram, the best value per gram here. Buyers gave it 4.5 across 3,366 ratings, tied with the Laneige for the top score, and it ranked #30 in Lip Balms. It has no SPF, so pair it with an SPF balm when you go out.

The listing names a ceramide complex plus shea and cocoa butter. It also adds kojic acid and niacinamide and sells itself as a brightening balm for dark lips. If you only want to heal dry lips, those extras aren't needed. The page gives no full ingredient list.

Its base is sunflower oil, beeswax, rapeseed oil and shea butter, and the listing says it's mineral oil free. The ingredient list ends with linalool, citronellol, citral and aroma. Aroma is the label term for flavour, and the other three are fragrance ingredients. The AAD advises against flavour and fragrance while your lips are chapped, so this one suits lips that are dry but not cracked.

The Laneige mask had a 4.5 rating from 15,913 buyers, tied for the top rating here and backed by far more ratings than the Vaseline. It ranked #11 in Lip Balms, the best of these in that list. It cost ₹480 for 8 g, about ₹60 a gram.
It's a night product in a jar. You apply it with the built in spatula before bed and wipe it off in the morning. The listing names coconut oil and shea butter for moisture, and says the formula melts away dead skin cells from the lips. It names a berry flavour, and the AAD lists flavouring among things to avoid while lips are chapped. If it stings, the AAD's advice is to stop.

We opened each Amazon.in product page on 18 Oct 2026, 04:39 IST and copied down the price, the size, the SPF, the ingredients named in the bullets and the ingredient field, the rating, the number of ratings and the seller rank. After that, we checked each one against the American Academy of Dermatology's lists of helpful ingredients and ingredients to avoid.
We have not put these balms on our own lips. This page compares what each listing says against published dermatologist advice. An ingredient list on Amazon can be incomplete, so read the pack when it arrives, and stop any balm that stings.
