Quick verdict
For a double bed, the Beurer UB 56 cost ₹1,990, the least of the doubles here, and lists two controllers, an auto off after about 12 hours and machine washing. For a single bed, the Beurer TS 17 cost ₹890 and ranked #1 in Electric Mattress Pads. The HIGA Comfort wool warmer had the top rating, 4.3, but its bullets name no auto off.
An electric blanket warms the bed, not the whole room. Every model here is an under blanket, or is described as one: it goes on the mattress, below your bed sheet. On Amazon.in, these seven cost between ₹890 and ₹3,499, and their listings differ a lot on safety features, size and washing.
We compared models from Beurer, Bell, Expressions, HIGA Comfort, Tapish and Heatronics. For each, we read the product page on the date shown and copied down the price, the rating, the number of ratings, the seller rank, the bed size, the controllers, the heat settings, the auto off timer and the care instructions.
We then checked those features against the safety advice from Oxfordshire County Council's fire and rescue service, which publishes safety advice on electric blankets. Prices on Amazon.in change often, so treat every figure as a snapshot from the date printed beside it.

How to choose
Single or double bed?
Measure your mattress first. The three single models here run from 80 cm to about 91 cm wide, and the four doubles are about 150 cm wide.
Every double here has two controls, so each sleeper can pick a level or switch their side off. The HIGA Comfort runs both sides from one plug, which helps if you have only one socket by the bed.
Which safety features matter?
Oxfordshire's fire service says electric blankets can be perfectly safe provided they're in good condition and have the necessary overheating safeguards built into the design.
Four listings here name overheat protection or a sensor against overheating: both Beurers, the Expressions and the Heatronics. The Bell, HIGA Comfort and Tapish bullets don't. If a listing doesn't name it, check the manual or ask the seller before you buy.
How to use one safely
The same fire service gives a short list. Secure an under blanket to the bed with its ties so it doesn't move. Store it flat, or fold it loosely. Don't use a hot water bottle with it, and don't switch it on if it's wet or damp.
Check it each winter for wear, scorch marks, loose connections and damage to the cable, and replace any blanket over 10 years old. Buy new, not secondhand. Most of these go under a cotton bed sheet, and our bedsheet comparison covers those.
What does it cost to run?
Power on these listings runs from 60 W to 135 W for one side. At full power for 8 hours, the 60 W Beurer TS 17 draws 0.48 units of electricity, and the 135 W Heatronics would draw 1.08. The Tapish, with both sides on, would draw 1.76.
A 2,000 W room heater running for the same 8 hours comes to 16 units. Multiply by your tariff for the cost. If you want to warm the whole room instead, our room heater comparison covers that.

How we compared
We opened each Amazon.in product page on 18 Oct 2026, 04:30 IST and copied down the price, the rating, the number of ratings, the seller rank, the size, the controllers, the heat settings, the stated power, the auto off timer and the care instructions. One listing did not make the cut, because its title said electric blanket but its bullets described a plain fleece throw.
We have not slept under these blankets ourselves. This page compares what each listing, its rating and its stated features say, checked against a council fire service's published safety advice. Treat the ratings as a guide, not a promise, and always follow the manual that comes with the blanket.
Questions people ask
Which electric blanket is best in India?
For a double bed, the Beurer UB 56 cost ₹1,990 and lists two controllers, overheat protection, an auto off after about 12 hours and machine washing. For a single bed, the Beurer TS 17 cost ₹890 and ranked #1 in Electric Mattress Pads.
Can I leave an electric blanket on all night?
Follow the manual for your model. Of these seven, the Heatronics switches off after 120 minutes, and the Beurer UB 56 and Expressions Polar after about 12 hours. The other four listings name no timer in their bullets.
Can you wash an electric blanket?
Only if the listing says so. Both Beurer models are machine washable at 30°C with the controller removed. The Bell, Expressions, HIGA Comfort and Tapish listings say not to wash them.
Is an electric blanket cheaper to run than a room heater?
Per hour, yes. These blankets list 60 W to 135 W per side, while a 2,000 W heater draws far more. A heater warms the whole room, though. Our oil filled vs fan heater guide compares the two main heater types.
