Quick verdict

The Weird Wolf study lamp had a 4.4 rating from more than 12,000 buyers at ₹475, and its listing states a removable 1200mAh battery. For the longest stated backup, the Philips Sky lists 3.5 hours at ₹949. The Wipro Garnet matched the 4.4 rating with the most ratings here, at ₹1,229.

A study lamp looks like a simple buy until power cuts, exam weeks and small desks get involved. Most listings promise eye care, three colour modes and touch control, so they read almost the same. The real differences are in the battery: how long it lasts, what port charges it, and whether the listing states a figure at all.

We put seven study table lamps side by side, from ₹338 to ₹1,229, including Philips, Wipro and Crompton alongside popular smaller brands. We read each Amazon.in product page on the date shown and copied down the price, the rating, the number of ratings behind it, the seller rank, and the battery, charging and lighting details each listing states.

Prices on Amazon.in change often, so treat every figure as a snapshot from the date printed beside it. If your area has long power cuts, a lamp's battery only goes so far, and our inverter battery comparison covers backup for the whole room.

How to choose

How long are your power cuts?

If the lamp needs to keep you studying through an outage, the stated backup matters more than anything else. The Philips Sky lists 3.5 hours, the longest here. The Crompton Deskmate lists up to 2 hours and the Flyngo 1.5 to 2 hours at full brightness. Several listings state a battery size but no backup time, so treat them as unknown until the seller confirms.

Do you need a phone holder?

Online classes and video lectures often mean propping a phone on the desk. The Weird Wolf, SaleOn and Flyngo lamps all list a built in phone holder alongside pen holders. The Philips, Wipro, Fulminare and Crompton listings don't mention one, so you'd need a separate stand.

Which charging cable do you already own?

Two lamps here, the Philips Sky and the Flyngo, state micro USB charging. If your phone and laptop use Type C, you'll be keeping an older cable around just for the lamp. Where a listing doesn't name the port, check the product photos before you order.

Is your desk small?

Gooseneck lamps take less room than lamps with a wide base and arm. If space is tight, a lamp with built in pen and phone holders also clears clutter. For a full study corner, our office chair comparison and laptop table guide cover the rest of the setup.

How we compared

We opened each Amazon.in product page on 10 Oct 2026, 15:23 IST and copied down the price, the rating, the number of ratings, the seller rank, and every battery, charging, backup and lighting detail each listing states. Where a listing doesn't state a figure, the table says Not stated rather than guessing.

We have not switched on or studied under these lamps ourselves. This page compares what each listing, its rating and its stated specifications say. Brightness and comfort feel different to different people, so treat the ratings as a guide, not a promise.
