Quick verdict

For most office lunches, Milton's Electron is the pick at ₹1,181. It has three steel containers, auto shut off, a 1 year warranty and the best Lunch Boxes rank here, though its 4.0 from 19,294 ratings is shared across Milton models. Jaypee Plus Hottline is the cheapest at ₹949, but its page contradicts itself on power and capacity. Xech's 300 W steam box claims the fastest reheat, about 2 minutes, with no conditions stated.

An electric lunch box lets you heat a home packed meal at your desk, with no queue for the office microwave. On Amazon.in, the six boxes in this group cost between ₹949 and ₹1,614.

The listings leave out a lot. Three don't state the heater's power, and one gives two different figures. Milton's rating is shared across several models, and two material rows say plastic where the title or the bullets say steel.

We read six listings line by line, from Milton, Jaypee Plus, Cello, Xech and AGARO. We also checked the food safety rule that matters most for a lunch packed in the morning and heated at noon. Here's what each box offers, and what it only claims.

How to choose

Keep the food cold until you heat it

Food safety agencies call the temperature range where food bacteria readily grow the danger zone. According to Wikipedia's danger zone page, agencies set it between 4 and 63 °C. The US Food Safety and Inspection Service says food left in it for more than two hours shouldn't be eaten.

A lunch packed at 8 am and heated at 1 pm waits five hours, often at room temperature. If your office has a fridge, keep the box there and plug it in only at lunch. The same page says food should pass through the danger zone as few times as possible when it's reheated, so heat it once, fully, and eat it then.

Check the heater power and the listed time

Power decides how fast heat goes into the food. Xech lists 300 W, Jaypee gives both 80 W and 100 W, and Cello says 15 W. A 15 W heater puts out a twentieth of Xech's heat each minute, so it needs far longer to warm the same meal. Milton and AGARO don't state their power.

The listed times run from Xech's 2 minutes to AGARO's 25 to 35 and Jaypee's 30 to 45. Milton gives 15 minutes for the small Swiftron and 30 for the Electron. None of these pages says how much food or what starting temperature its figure assumes, so treat each one as the brand's claim.

Steel inside, and what the outside is made of

In all six, the food sits in steel containers, per the listings. The outer body varies. Jaypee's bullet says plastic outside, Xech lists ABS plastic and steel, and AGARO's material row says plastic. Milton and Cello list stainless steel in their material rows.

Lift the containers out to wash them. Five of the six say hand wash only. Cello's care row says dishwasher safe, but no box with a heater in it should go in water. Wipe the base with a damp cloth, and keep the plug and the cord dry.

Match the capacity to your lunch

Add up the containers, not the title. Milton's Swiftron holds 520 ml, and Jaypee's three 320 ml containers hold 960 ml, though its capacity row says 1.5 litres. Cello and Xech hold about 1 litre, Milton's Electron holds 1,080 ml, and AGARO holds 1.5 litres.

A dal or a curry needs a sealed lid more than space. Milton's Electron lists airtight lids, AGARO a silicone gasket, and Xech sealed containers. If you carry a hot drink too, our insulated water bottle comparison covers flasks that keep it hot without power.

Check the cord, the warranty and your office rules

Jaypee's description lists AC 220 to 240 volts, which matches Indian mains. Xech lists an ISI marked power cord. Milton has a detachable cord with its own compartment, and Jaypee has a cord compartment too. Five of the six list a 1 year warranty, and Xech's page shows none.

Some offices limit heating appliances at desks, so ask before you buy a 300 W box. If your office already has a fridge and a microwave, a plain steel tiffin may be all you need. Our microwave oven comparison covers that side of the choice.

1. MILTON Electron Electric Lunch Box, 3 x 360 ml: best overall

₹1,181

4.0 out of 5 on Amazon.in (19,294 ratings)

₹1,181 (as of 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST)

Milton's Electron costs ₹1,181 for three 360 ml steel containers, 1,080 ml in all. It ranks fourteenth in Amazon.in's Lunch Boxes list, the best rank of any box in this group. The bullets list built in temperature control, auto shut off, a detachable cord with its own compartment and a 1 year warranty. They say it reheats a meal in 30 minutes.

Read the rating with care. The same 4.0 from 19,294 buyers shows on Milton's Swiftron, Futron and Flatron pages too, so Amazon.in pools it across several Milton electric boxes. It isn't a score for this model alone. The page doesn't state the heater's power, and the care row says hand wash only.

  • Containers: 3 × 360 ml steel
  • Total: 1,080 ml
  • Listed heating time: 30 minutes
  • Heater power: Not stated
  • Auto shut off: Yes
  • Warranty: 1 year
  • Care: Hand wash only

Good

  • Best Lunch Boxes rank in the group.
  • Auto shut off and temperature control.
  • Detachable cord with a compartment.

Watch out

  • Rating is shared with other Milton models.
  • Heater power not stated.

Before you pay: Pack the food cold and plug the box in about 30 minutes before you eat, since that's the time Milton gives. Keep the invoice for the 1 year warranty.

2. Jaypee Plus Hottline Electric Lunch Box, 3 x 320 ml: lowest price

₹949

3.7 out of 5 on Amazon.in (3,284 ratings)

₹949 (as of 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST)

Jaypee Plus Hottline is the cheapest box here at ₹949. Its 3.7 from 3,284 buyers is the biggest rating count here outside Milton's shared one. It ranks #72 in Lunch Boxes. The description lists a 45 minute auto cut off with an LED display, and AC 220 to 240 volts. A cord compartment keeps the cable in the box, and the maker gives a 1 year warranty.

The page contradicts itself three times. The title says stainless steel, but the material row says plastic, and a bullet explains it: a plastic outer body around a steel inner container. A bullet says the heater draws 80 W, while the description says 100 watts. The capacity row says 1.5 litres, though three 320 ml containers hold 960 ml. The title promises a reheat in 30 minutes, and the description says 30 to 45.

  • Containers: 3 × 320 ml steel
  • Total: 960 ml, the row says 1.5 L
  • Listed heating time: 30 to 45 minutes
  • Heater power: 80 W or 100 W, the page says both
  • Auto shut off: After 45 minutes
  • Outer body: Plastic
  • Warranty: 1 year from the maker

Good

  • Lowest price here, ₹949.
  • 3,284 ratings behind it.
  • 45 minute auto cut off.

Watch out

  • Rated 3.7, below both Milton boxes.
  • Capacity and power rows contradict the bullets.

Before you pay: Plan your portions for 960 ml, not 1.5 litres. Check the outer body and the cord for damage when the box arrives, and send it back within the return window if either is cracked.

3. MILTON Swiftron Electric Lunch Box, 2 x 260 ml: light lunch

₹992

4.0 out of 5 on Amazon.in (19,294 ratings)

₹992 (as of 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST)

The Swiftron is Milton's small box: two 260 ml steel containers, 520 ml in all, for ₹992. Its bullets match the Electron's, with built in temperature control, auto shut off, a detachable cord and a 1 year warranty. The one difference in the text is time. Milton says it reheats a meal in 15 minutes, half the Electron's 30.

It shows the same 4.0 from 19,294 ratings and the same #14 Lunch Boxes rank as the Electron, so neither number tells you about this size alone. The page doesn't state the heater's power. Less food takes less time to warm, which may explain the shorter time. At 520 ml, it suits a light lunch more than a full meal.

  • Containers: 2 × 260 ml steel
  • Total: 520 ml
  • Listed heating time: 15 minutes
  • Heater power: Not stated
  • Auto shut off: Yes
  • Warranty: 1 year
  • Size: 26.2 × 15.4 × 7.9 cm

Good

  • Shortest time Milton lists, 15 minutes.
  • Under ₹1,000.
  • Same features as the Electron.

Watch out

  • Only 520 ml in total.
  • Rating is shared with other Milton models.

Before you pay: Pour your usual lunch into a 500 ml bowl first. If it overflows, the three container Electron fits better for ₹189 more.

4. CELLO Atom Electric Lunch Box, 2 steel containers: low power

₹1,299

4.0 out of 5 on Amazon.in (438 ratings)

₹1,299 (as of 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST)

Cello's Atom costs ₹1,299 for two steel containers, with a capacity row of 1,000 ml. Its 4.0 from 438 buyers ties the Milton average, without Milton's shared count. The bullets list a cool touch outer body, airtight lids and leak proof construction. Its warranty row says 1 year on the product.

The description says the heater works at 15 watts. That's about a fifth of the 80 W Jaypee lists and a twentieth of Xech's 300 W, so it puts far less heat into the food each minute. The bullets promise hot food within minutes and give no figure. The care row says dishwasher safe, but the page doesn't say which parts can go in. It ranks #1,026 in Lunch Boxes, the lowest rank here.

  • Containers: 2 steel
  • Total: 1,000 ml, per the row
  • Listed heating time: No figure given
  • Heater power: 15 W
  • Outer body: Cool touch, per the bullets
  • Warranty: 1 year on the product
  • Care: Dishwasher safe, per the row

Good

  • 4.0 rating from 438 buyers.
  • Lowest power draw here.
  • 1 year warranty.

Watch out

  • 15 W heats slowly.
  • No heating time given.

Before you pay: Plug it in well before lunch, since the page gives no time and 15 W is the lowest power here. Put only the steel containers in a dishwasher, and keep the base dry.

5. Xech Hot Box II 300W Electric Lunch Box, 1 L: fastest

₹1,299

3.9 out of 5 on Amazon.in (221 ratings)

₹1,299 (as of 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST)

Xech's Hot Box II works differently from the rest. You add water, lock two 500 ml steel containers inside, and a 300 W heater makes steam around them. The listing claims a reheat in about 2 minutes, and simple cooking, such as eggs, oats or idli, in about 20. It lists auto cut off, dry boil protection and an ISI marked power cord.

The listing says the 2 minute figure holds under the maker's own conditions, and it doesn't say what they were. Its body is ABS plastic and steel. The listing warns you to open it away from your face, as hot steam may escape. It has 3.9 from 221 buyers and ranks #78 in Lunch Boxes. We found no warranty row on the page.

  • Containers: 2 × 500 ml, 304 steel
  • Total: 1 litre
  • Listed heating time: About 2 minutes
  • Heater power: 300 W
  • How it heats: Steam, add water first
  • Safety: Auto cut off, dry boil protection
  • Warranty: Not shown

Good

  • Highest power here, 300 W.
  • Cooks simple food, per the listing.
  • ISI marked power cord.

Watch out

  • 2 minute claim gives no conditions.
  • Steam can scald when you open it.

Before you pay: 300 W is far more than the others list. Ask whether your office allows it at your desk, and open the lid away from your face every time.

6. AGARO Elite Electric Lunch Box, 1.5 L: biggest

₹1,614

3.5 out of 5 on Amazon.in (87 ratings)

₹1,614 (as of 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST)

AGARO's Elite holds the most, 1.5 litres, and the bullets pitch it at a full Indian meal of rice, dal, sabzi and chapati. It costs ₹1,614, the most in this group. The bullets name PTC heating and say it warms food in 25 to 35 minutes. A silicone gasket seals the lid, and the warranty row says 1 year replacement.

It has the lowest score here, 3.5 from 87 buyers, and ranks #348 in Lunch Boxes. The material row says plastic, while the bullets describe a food grade stainless steel container. Both can be true if a plastic body holds a steel container, but the page doesn't say so. The manufacturer row names Universal Corporation Limited in Shanghai, China, and the page doesn't state the heater's power.

  • Capacity: 1.5 L
  • Listed heating time: 25 to 35 minutes
  • Heater power: Not stated
  • Heating: PTC, per the bullets
  • Lid: Silicone gasket
  • Warranty: 1 year replacement
  • Weight: 700 g

Good

  • Biggest capacity here, 1.5 L.
  • Silicone sealed lid.
  • 1 year replacement warranty.

Watch out

  • Lowest rating here, 3.5 from 87.
  • Highest price here.

Before you pay: With only 87 ratings, read the newest one star reviews before you buy. When it arrives, check that the container is steel, as the bullets say.

How we compared

We opened each Amazon.in product page on 26 Oct 2026, 03:20 IST and copied the price, the rating, the number of ratings, the rank, the material, capacity and warranty rows, and every claim in the bullets and the description. Electric boxes are rare in Amazon.in's Lunch Boxes best seller list, so we added listings found by web search, then kept six from five brands.

We read Wikipedia's page on the food safety danger zone. We have not heated a meal in any of these boxes, and we won't pretend otherwise. Where a listing says two different things, we print both and flag it. Milton's rating and rank are shared across several Milton models, and we say so on each. Prices on Amazon.in change often, so the price on the day we checked may differ from the one you see.

Questions people ask

Which electric lunch box is best for office use in India?

Among these six, Milton's Electron has the strongest case. It costs ₹1,181 for three 360 ml steel containers, with auto shut off and a 1 year warranty. Its 4.0 rating from 19,294 buyers is shared across several Milton models, though.

How long does an electric lunch box take to heat food?

The listings here claim about 2 minutes for Xech's 300 W steam box, 15 to 30 minutes for Milton, 25 to 35 for AGARO and 30 to 45 for Jaypee. None says how much food its figure assumes, so plug it in early.

Is it safe to keep food in an electric lunch box from morning to lunch?

Bacteria readily grow in food between about 4 and 63 °C, the range Wikipedia calls the danger zone. The US FSIS says food left in it over two hours shouldn't be eaten. Keep the box in a fridge until lunch if you can, then heat it once.

Are electric lunch boxes made of steel or plastic?

In all six here, the food sits in steel containers, per the listings. The outer body differs. Jaypee and AGARO list plastic, Xech lists ABS plastic and steel, and Milton and Cello list stainless steel in their material rows.

Can I cook rice in an electric lunch box?

Most of these only reheat. Xech's listing says its steam box can cook simple food such as eggs, oats, idli and momos in about 20 minutes, and it doesn't list rice. For rice, our rice cooker comparison covers proper cookers.
